Many people don't realize that Bavaria (a region of Germany) is quite different from the rest of the country. I was surprised to learn that the Bavarian people are very culturally aware and very proud of their traditions. Even the dialect of German is very different than that spoken in other cities like Berlin or Frankfurt. For anyone wanting to work in Germany, this is probably the best place to do so. There are many international companies, not to mention financial institutions located here, and the salary is considerably higher than most of the other parts of the country. For the same reason, the standard of living is quite a bit higher too, although things tend to be more expensive at the same time. I was also pleased to find out that it is very close to Austria. Salzburg is only 2 hours by train, and is definitely worth the visit if you feel you need a break from the buzz of Munich. If you like to festivals, you could not possible live in a better city, with the annual Oktoberfest taking place in Munich you will be right in the middle of one of the oldest and most famous beer festivals in the world!
