Driving-in-Mexico

It is best to drive behind someone who has local plates, as he will usually know where the potholes are, especially at night. If it is raining, this is particularly recommended. Between huge potholes and gigantic homemade speed bumps, you really should opt for the highest ground clearance vehicle you can buy. People in Mexico actually pull aside if you need to pass, but again, if you are driving in unknown territory, it's best to be calm and follow a local. Tires are very expensive in Mexico, and worse, you wont find it easy to change two blown tires.
