Be Prepared to Haggle

Be prepared to negotiate (haggle) over just about everything that does not have a fixed price like shopping at the Supermarket. It's a way of life here in all of Morocco and bantering the price back and forth is expected of you. Don't make the mistake many expats make in (1) not being aware of this and (2) think the highest price is only put to foreigners. The first stated price is just the starting point for negotiating. Also, learn or at least get an exposure to French or Darija (Moroccan Arabic) via the Internet before coming. Life will be a WHOLE LOT easier with the language.
