Medication availability in Ecuador

View/Add Comments (0 Comments) |

The best suggestion is to see if the company that manufactures the medication you take has either a subsidiary in South America or distributes to South America by going onto their website. The best situation is if they actually sell in Ecuador.

Of course the very best situation is to make a trip to Ecuador and bring the medication with you -- along with the actual name -- not the brand name but the name of the medication itself -- and go to the farmacias in the areas you are interested in living in and ask the pharmacist to check each and every medication.

Some medications are not available in Ecuador: Benadryl, Epi Pen, Oxycotin/Oxycodone and Morphine CR. And medication cannot be sent by regular mail. Make arrangements to bring these in with you and discuss with your doctor in a larger dosage may cover the supplies you need. Pain medications are available by injection if you do run short.
