Prior to getting IN a taxi in Egypt tell the driver where you want to go and then establish the price. Make sure you also identify with the driver if the price he quotes you is in Egyptian Pounds, Pounds Sterling or USD etc. Do not assume the price he gives you will be in Egyptian pounds. Bit of a scam but drivers often state a price and then demand payment in the denomination that gives them the most amount of money.
