Restaurants in Kingston

Kingston is blessed with lots of restaurants, including those offering local cuisine as well as foreign food. You can get a great Jamaican meal at Starapples in Devon Road (in a converted old house). You should also visit Devon House, a complex of great house museum, shops and restaurants. There is a famous ice cream place called I Scream. You can buy the ice cream all over the island but the original place is at Devon House. Lots of locals get ice cream there. It is really good. There is also a bakery next door, a Grog Shoppe restaurant (amazing drinks), another more upscale restaurant called The Terrace and lots of stores selling crafts and souvenirs. Another good restaurant is Redbones -- gourmet food and live music. In general, the prices you pay for restaurant food is the same as you would pay in the U.S. If you’re looking for bargains, stick to the patty shops where you can get a patty and a drink for a few dollars. Roadside vendors sell jerk chicken, especially in the night club areas as the evening wears on. Really good and not too expensive. If you’re homesick for some American food, there’s a TGIF’s, Subway, Burger King, KFC, etc.
