Differences When Moving from US to UK - Part 2

Electrical outlets are different from US and other EU countries so you will need a decent converter. I highly suggest just leaving your hair dryers, curling irons, etc. at home and only bringing chargers for computer, camera, etc. to use with a converter. Trust me, I've blown a fuse at a b&b after only using a hair dryer twice on a converter! There are many accents within the British accent. Most people think there is just one British accent, but you will soon realize that there are a ton of accents within the small country! Poppies are the country's official flower and are representative of UK veterans. Temperature is measured in Celsius, not Fahrenheit so get those conversion skills ready! Food labels are also put on the front of packaging to include calories, fat, sugar, etc. along with the full label on the back. Restaurants are not commonly seen in smaller towns; pubs are common so will have decent menus; people tend to eat at home more than eating out in the UK. Washers are also dryers so you don't have to change over the clothes (this took a while to get used to but now I LOVE it!) A lot of food is locally sourced which is wonderful. You know where your food is coming from and you know you are helping your community!
