Cost of Living in Denmark
View/Add Comments (0 Comments) |
Denmark is a nice, safe country to live in, but don't bother if you're looking for savings potential. On top of high housing (and driving) costs, you will find a 25% value added tax, which also applies to raw groceries (unlike the U.S.). Copenhagen is very expensive, and other cities with international communities--Aarhus, Esbjerg, etc.--are cheaper but have proportionally lower salaries. Taxes are quite high, though they cover basic health care, but the tax rate is a significant consideration if you are thinking about working in Denmark. So venture south of Scandinavia if you're looking to save while working abroad.
