Get your own Tenzing Norgay

Tenzing Norgay was the guide to Sir Edmund Hillary in his historic climb of Mount Everest. I live in Goiania Goias and frankly I am amazed at the number of contributors from SP and Rio who complain of the lack of english speaking Brasilians. Now for my tip: Taxi drivers are your best bet for information guidance and of course getting to anything and anyplace you need. I find that if I identify myself to the driver as American and apologize up front for my poor Portuguese, that I'll get a very sympathetic ear and a font of information. Also the driver may come along to explain your situation to other less patient people who may not be so inclined to learn of your needs. In summary I guess that's 2 tips 1-Let the taxi driver be your guide and 2-practice your Portuguese with everyone you meet.
