Cuenca ~ Hidden Cemeteries
View/Add Comments (0 Comments) |
Have you visited Cuenca's hidden cemeteries? These are the crypts located inside churches. There was a belief that being buried in a church allowed people to be nearer to God. The catacombs of the Catedral de la Inmaculada have been open to tourists since last year. Admission is $1 for adults and $0.50 for seniors and children. Another place full of history is the Catedral Vieja which dates back to 1568. It has two catacombs. Newly opened to the public is the churchyard of Todos Santos. It has more than 80 niches. Admission is $1-2
