Before setting foot on the island as I did to get a My Dream Home Visa do your research of the area that you will initially be staying and that the house that you have got waiting for you that you have booked over the internet is what it is. Get photos of every room and garden. I was told that the house I am in was the same as the one I originally enquired about but it was the complete opposite. The kitchen if you can call it that looked so unhygenic that I couldn't cook in it, not that there was anything to cook on, cook with not even a knife to butter some bread. The first chair I sat on, I went straight through and hurt my back. The small road which runs past that I enquired about before I left England if it was busy and told that it was not, is the busiest road that I have ever lived by and less than 20 feet from my windows. Because I complained about the fridge that keeps breaking down, I have been bombarded with abusive texts and emails and told in a very unpleasant way to pack my bags and leave. This guy drives past my house very slowly in an intimidating way. This is coming from a 27 year old to a 67 year old. Not a very good first impression of Sri Lanka. If I had not have brought my 2 small dogs with me from England, I would have gone straight back on the plane and home.
