before renting a property, make sure you are not in a rush; go for a reputable agency and ask around. but remember in sri lanka, there is always this commission based assistance! meaning the one who refers you to the home, will get a cut. so if you want to rent, check out sunday times, speak to some good friends or expats here and dont pay the 1 year or 6 months advance they ask...negotiate it to 3 or 4 months; always bargain
