1. You must have a local trusted contact 2. Learn Bulgarian 3. Be relaxed, Bulgarians smell fear and stress 4. Look people straight in the face, u can tell when they are lying or taking advantage of you 5. Go to the villages. Cities are nice but real authentic and beautiful Bulgarian life happens in the villages even the poorest ones 6. Not all gypsies are scum some are hard working and fun 7. Check the posted price on the taxis, some charge 2 leva per Km when the going rate is 0.65 leva/km 8. Know when to bargain. For example meat displayed in the supermarket u cannot bargain about, but if u want to buy a whole lamb from a village man u can bargain about the price 9. Always get 2-3 offers for any worth while job 10. You must experience lying in the grass, near an open fire, in some remote village... its the most beautiful feeling in the world 11. For added effect, you can roast some sausages and open a bottle of beer and share with friends
