Are you eligible for to enroll in the public healthcare system? Do expats in your area typically enroll? How difficult is it to enroll? Is there a cost? If yes, how much per year? Are pre-existing conditions covered? Are there public hospitals? What is the quality of care in the public system?

When a newcomer asks about medical care in your area, what do you tell them? What advice do you have for expats with chronic medical conditions considering a move to your area (diabetes, high blood pressure, cancer, heart problems, etc.)?

How are emergency services in your area? How close to hospital/s are you? What are the names of the best hospitals? What is the quality of care at that hospital? Are these hospitals and/or clinics public or private? How do you call for an ambulance?

Often expats travel outside of the immediate area for specialist care. Where do they typically go? What type of medical issues do expats tend to travel for and where do they go for each type of issue? (i.e. heart attack patients typically get evacuated to...) Do you or would you ever return to your home country for medical care? Explain.

Are common prescription medicines available locally? Where do you get them? Do you need a prescription? Are they expensive? Share your experiences.
