Electrical outlets are different from US and other EU countries so you will need a decent converter. I highly suggest just leaving your hair dryers, curling irons, etc. at home and only bringing chargers for computer, camera, etc. to use with a converter. (Continue Reading)

This was one of the most difficult things for me to get used to as an American - tipping in the UK. Restaurants and pubs are run differently in the UK than in the US. They pay their staff higher wages and also do not always have a dedicated server to your table. In pubs, you will go to the bar to order both drinks and food. The British don't use napkins or paper towels like Americans do. In America, you wouldn't think of sitting down to eat or even getting a to-go meal from a take-away without receiving napkins but this is not the case in the UK so don't be surprised when you end up wiping your hands on your pants after taking a bite of your burger!
