" What taxes would a US Citizen be subject to if he purchases a vacation condo in the DR? I would be staying in the condo less than 180 days a year. My concern stems from the following. I understand there are several types of DR visas including a tourist and residency visa. The tourist visa is good for 90 days, so if I planned on staying in the condo for about 4 or 5 months I assume I would need a residency visa. The problem is that I have read that ""All DR residents are subject to income tax on global income and residents'' estates excluding real estate abroad."" Since I have a residency visa, am I now subject to DR taxes if I stay in the DR less than 180 days a year? Thanks for any info anyone may have. John Rose "
