we have recently visited luperon and fallen in love with the place would like to move near there but have 2 young children so need to find out about schooling ages 2 & 4 at the moment. also my husband is electrician so is it possible for him to work over there would have money to buy house and maybe business any info would be much appreciated.

Your husband would make 1/3 of what he makes in the states, and would also have to have a passing ability to speak spanish. There is one good school on the north coast outside of Sosua. I suggest coming down a few more times and getting to know the area. Also, there is a good forum at www.dr1.com, and members are very helpful

I have been researching the Dominican Republic on the web for about 1 1/2 years and have been in contact with several real estate agents. I plan to finally make the jump and plan to visit this summer for the main purpose of buying an apartment. If anyone has suggestions I would love to hear them.
