IMO is that YOU look at the information and be ready as you think best. Lots of information via Google.
My Opinion? We will continue to be in a drought situation and this year will have HALF the rain compared to last year.

It looks like I'm having problems posting; copy/paste so you will have to look up info.
http://www.theweathernetwork.com/uk/news/articles/extreme-weather/2015-hurricane-season-could-be-quietest-for-30-years/49693/
Meanwhile? We are in a heat wave that is setting records for this time of year and looking at over 100 F on the North Coast today.
POP is shrouded in a dusty haze that extends out over the Atlantic and overhead reminds me of something out of the Twilight Zone.

Good article about the Sahara dust storms.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/capital-weather-gang/wp/2013/07/31/massive-african-dust-storm-squashes-atlantic-hurricane-potential-images/
I've read others, not so good but they all say about the same thing. These storms have increased over the decades and have become stronger affecting the whole world weather systems. These storms were mainly in their dry season but now blow up all year round.
Not good. We have had one or two already this year and this current one is very heavy with dust that increased our temps by trapping the suns heat. And greatly contributes to drought conditions.

The Drought continues but at least people are trying to get ahead of it this year.
From Dominican Today:
http://www.dominicantoday.com/dr/local/2015/4/30/54950/The-capitals-water-utility-scrambles-to-confront-drought
The capital’s water utility scrambles to confront drought
Santo Domingo.- Santo Domingo Water Utility (CAASD) director Alejandro Montas on Wednesday announced extended assistance to citizens and a plan to deal with the drought, which has led a 50 percent drop in the flow of rivers that supply Greater Santo Domingo’s aqueducts.
He said among the emergency measures to deal with the drought the utility rented 15 additional tanker trucks to deliver drinking water to sectors free-of charge.
"The truth is that the drought is already affecting us, the flow of Isa, Mana and Haina rivers have dropped substantially. We’ve resorted to emergency programs," Montas said in a statement. --------------------
We still have no city water. It's only been about 16 months now without and they have no plans to fix the problem in our area. They MUST own the water trucks that everyone needs to buy.
We have 2 pools and drained 1 to paint. We decided not to paint and not to refill it. No washing cars and letting the lawns and gardens dry up.
We have added over 80 feet of rain gutters to harvest what little rain we hope to get. Goes into a rain barrel with reinforced insect screens to filter out the leaves and stuff, then is plumbed into a water cistern.
A well is being drilled across the street and we are gathering information on it. How deep and is the water salty. Our property is ocean front so hitting salt water is a concern and of no use without very expensive systems.
POP is totally socked in with dust haze. Can not see it at all. ---------------- We are not the only ones having water problems. The Western US has been in a drought and it is expected to get worse there also.
My Daughter/family in California says that the drought there has become very bad. Mandatory 20% reduction in water use. Some of the reservoirs are completely empty. Agriculture is in big trouble.
Lake Mead near Las Vegas is at record lows and having problems generating electricity. (So what if the lights go out in Sin City?)

Dominican Today:
Record-breaking temperatures continue
Santo Domingo.- The National Weather Office (Onamet) forecasts mostly sunny skies and higher than normal temperatures, as the result of the prevailing southeast wind and dust from the Sahara.
It said record high temperatures as high as 40C degrees will continue for the entire country, especially the southeast, northwest, and border area.
Onamet said the high temperatures will continue during the next three days, especially for Santiago Rodriguez, Valverde, Monte Cristi, Dajabón and Elías Piña provinces.
“The weather station at Altamira, Puerto Plata reported a new record with the maximum temperature of 37.5°C yesterday, surpassing by one degree the previous record of 36.5°C set April 17, 1963.” -----------------
I've moved my office into a small guest room and staying in the AC.

So nice that that heat has gone down but very little .. less dust.
I could just see the outline of the mountains around POP so a little improvement.
No rain in sight.
I'm going to open a new tread concerning our drought conditions and hope that others will join in.
Grass crunches under my feet.
