are there other areas in the Dominican that have the warmth and calm and quiet beautifully colored waters of punta cana or bayahibe areas...what is it like around las terrenas or other areas of samana peninsula, are the waters calm and safe enough for children, are they rougher, colder, windier? thanks!

I live in Sosua that has a very calm main beach where you will find many children playing, especially at weekends. This is the latest video of Sosua and Cabarete. The latter is more windy which is why its tso popular with all forms of surfing. We don't have the silver sands of Punta Cana but we have golden sands which is great for building sand castles. Plus, we have the stunningly beautiful countryside that PC does not have. When I visited Samana Penninsula the waters were calm and in Las Galleras and Terresas the sands where silver but did not stretch the vast distance of Punta Cana but at least you can access them without going through an all inclusive. This is why its fun exploring Sosua/cabaret area because of the variety of beaches that are accessible. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7kehLyeUQg8&sns=fb

Depends on why you want? For your boat or what?
Sosua can be great but storms happen as we are having now with large surf as is most of the country.
Someone saying that "we have calm surf" becomes totally an unknown as well as your question.
areas with calm water?
