Hi all,
Im very interested in moving / relocating from the UK to DR. Any advice and aswers to following queations please. Does anyone have a link to visa application? What would be the forums best advice on relocating in terms of do I need to secure an offer of employment before apllying for a visa? Which visa should I aim for a residents visa or a 1 year working visa? I would like to move to DR with my wife and 2 small children. Also I run my own lansdcaping business in the UK, is this type of work available in DR. A lot of my work includes garden design, garden transformation, tree felling, installing fences, installing driveways and general garden maintanence. Does anyone know of a link to a landscaping company based in DR or even a way that I can secure work in DR. I would like to work in landscaping but would be equally happy teaching english, customer services, hotel maintanence, tourism, call cetnres or administration. Look forward to your help guys! Thanks in advance

Hi Jason, You won't get much of an advice on this forum. However, a couple of answers. To start the visa process, you must do it in your country. Contact Dominican embassy, and they'll explain the process. Landscaping here is mostly done by low paid Haitians or Dominicans. You will not be able to support your family on these type of wages. You can try contacting some of the more expensive places, such as fancier golf courses or something similar, but it's really doubtful that you can get employment that will guarantee sufficient income. Also, with two young kids here it won't be easy. Decent education is not available everywhere, and if it is, it's quite costly. The bottom line is, if you don't have a source of income from outside of DR, in your situation it would be very difficult to make a living here. Cheers an good luck.
