Internet, WiFi, VOIP?

Thinking ahead, I may be moving to Haiti later this year. Can anyone here tell me how difficult it would be to establish Internet connection with / or without wifi and VOIP? I would hope to be brining my laptop, which is set up for this kind of configuration.

What about satellite connections?

I don't currently use TV or Cable and don't anticipate having it there, unless there is absolutely no other choice.

Unfortunately, I haven't a clue yet, what part of the country I'd be landing in so this is a very general question at the moment.

Thanks.
JMM

Due to Haiti's close proximity to the U.S. you can easily establish a satellite computer connection. Once you know where you will be it will be easier to find how much it will cost you. Two leading satellite providers for internet are hughes.net and starband.net. There are techs in Port au Prince that will fly anywhere if the price is right to get you hooked up. Once you get hooked up count on spending about $70 per month for the connection. I have both VOIP and Wifi tho' wifi works better witih hughes.net. Good luck!
