Where are you now ? What kind of work you do now ? How old are your children ?
Where in Haiti were you ? What kind of work you were doing in Haiti ?

If you have at least a thousand dollars , well you could start a food business ( small grocery, small fast-food restaurant ) in Cap-Haitien.
If you do not have that kind of money, you had better stay in Miami.

Dear Greta: Do you still want to move to HAITI and why? I know you said that is where your heart is. I would like to meet you because I don't know anyone crazy like me. That is where my heart is and people don't understand how and why a person could fall in love with that city and the people and want to live and help there.Have you found a way to support yourself and your children? Bless you?

having 4 children can make this very hard. Haiti is a difficult country on many levels and since the earth quake life has been even harder. cap Haitien has improved much though i must say so if you are going to Haiti okap is the best pick in my opinion being that is where i live. if you are going to move to Haiti make sure you have a good school for your children to be in. apartment housing wise can be very cheap if you have the right connections you can rent out a nice house for under 500-900 us month a good aprtment will run you 250-400 a month US. make sure you have a good drinking water never drink the tap when you are in places like cap haitien and transpotation with children is a must i do not advice you make a habit of letting them take the tap taps all the time. taxi cabs are 25 gourdes in the down town one way 50 once you get from reval to st philomen and 100 once you get past au du cap. but i nthe end yo uwill need a truck it is most cheap to ship a truck from the states to cap haitien and fill the truck with as much as you can because they charge by size not weight. gas is very pricey so take this into consideration. sanitation should be your chief concern with children around typhoid, cholera, maleria, are real issues just to name a few and these are serious illnesses.

Indeed by reading your post I guess we have the same love of Haiti. I have been coming off and on since 2007 to PAP, Primarily staying in Petionville when I get there. I can not explain why I have such a love for the people of Haiti and the way of life. it was almost like this was my home in another life. I am trying to devise a plan on how I can come here and support myself in a somewhat comfortable lifestyle here in the capitol. something about this place that i just can't explain but one thing I know for sure It's home.
