Single Woman moving to Haiti

Hi,
I have an offer to work with a US company in Haiti for a year or a bit longer. I speak french but being a single woman I don't know what things I should know and how the living conditions would be in Haiti (Port au Prince). Any advice on what should I bring, look for, be aware of, not to wear, not to do. Is is safe to walk/jog during the day on the weekends?
Does anybody know how safe is the drive from Port au Prince to Miragoane? Would it be safe for me to drive my own car or would I be safe having a driver instead?
Thanks!

Now I start out by saying that there is nothing easy about living in Haiti especially if your use to luxuries in the Untied states that you take for granted. but let that not deter you but if you are considering living in Haiti you should already be syked for an amazing adventure that few will have the opportunity to take advantage of. If you will be working in Port au prince I would recommend the cool hills above known as Petionville, this area is were most expats and wealthy Haitian citizens call home. this is going to be your closes bet to normalcy coming from the states and this is one of the safest districts within the country. In terms of security as long as you have common sense this place will be as safe as any place in the Untied states. I would recommend you come and stay at least seven days and get a feel for the capitol and petionville. and also the company that you work. there is nothing easy about living in Haiti but it's well worth it if you can appreciate a different pace of life. I would recommend you get Behind the wheel if you plan on driving yourself at some point. If you have ever drove in NYC this place could definitely compare. there are no traffic rules these roads are for fittest.
