Hi,
I have recently moved to Martinique with my fiance who is originally from Martinique. Unfortunately I dont speak french but am learning and would like to know if there are any communities of English speakers as I would like to meet up and find out how you are getting on in Martinique etc. I have Rosetta Stone but i feel that i need another way of learning the language to help speed up the process.
Also, it would be nice to given some advice on how to find work and to generally socialise as i currently do not know many people apart from my fiancés friends and family.

My name is Laurence and I'm married with Nicholas Collins. We're moving to Martinique in december 2013. I bet you made some progress on Learning french since may. If not I would be happy to help you out as I'm a french native speeker bilingual in both languages. I'm also curious to know if there's a English speaking community in FdF or some places where my husband and I can socialise and celebrate Thanksgiving/Hallowee/ 4th of July ect...

Hi Guys,
I have moved to Martinique with my French boyfriend last year, I am Hungarian and learning French recently as well, but I'm much more fluent in English. I've also been looking for a kind of English-speaking community in Martinique, but haven't found one so far. I think it would be nice to share our experiences, give each other advices and maybe learn some French together.

It took me quite some time to answer because I had lost my password... whatever ! I found out that there some kind of English speaking community here. There's an event forcasted on the 9th of march 6pm at the Habitation Dillon. I will atten the event with my husband and daugther if you wanna join it you can look at the following link :

There is a forming English speaking community in Martinique, which also organized the event above. It is called English Meeting Martinique Association (EMMA) and they are regularly organizing events, where we can meet many foreigners and locals, who speak, or study English.
