" Hi, As I am facing an opportunity to go and live in Monaco, I would like to know what the cost of living is there? Like e.g. rent of a 4-5 bedroom house/appartment with garden/terrace social insurance - how does it work? any other relevant information you would like to share. Thx, Hubert "

" If you are single, with $2500 a month you should do fine in Monaco. You can rent a grand studio with view for about $1300 a month. -The best time to look is between December and February. -The worst time is April and May. Tourist season and Grand Prix. -One bedrooms go for $2000 to $3000 -Two bedrooms $2500 to $3500 -Three-four bedrooms $3000 to $6000 -You can find an apartment through a Real Estate Agent or if you have time to look yourself you will save on commission the real estate agency charges. -Commission is %10 , based on year''s rent. -They ask for three months rent in advance plus maintenance fees(which includes heat in some cases), water is included in the rent, maintenance fee comes around $130, depends in apartments size. -They also ask for a deposit of (three months rent and charges) which is refundable when you leave. -So lets say for a $1300 studio, you will need $9000 to start with. -If you are planning to buy, studios start from $300k to $6 mil for a 3-4 bedroom apartment. -Food is not expensive if you cook yourself, eating out is expensive. -You need to open a bank account in order to get a phone and cable. -TV cable comes to $30 per month, around 30 stations. I''ll be glad to help if you got more questions. Regards ardit "

" Hello Ardit, I read the great information you gave to the other guy and I also have a question for you.I am also looking to relocate to monaco.would you happen to know of a good place to find rentals.I picked up one of their news papers when I was there in May but saw nothing for rentals in Monaco.Someone also suggested checking out havas(a travel agency)they place adds for people in their window for apartments and many other things.I did not have much luck there.I know there has to be a place to find more information about rental property. Also,I would be interested in doing some house sitting in Monaco .Would you happen to have any advice on this subject. I look forward to hearing from you. Nj "

" Thanks a lot for the info. I have had my interview and apparently they allow people to live in France - where of course you pay more taxes, but the rent is somewhat lower. Your thoughts? Paying less taxes / higher rents or more taxes / lower rents? Thx, Hubert "
