" I have a few questions about Algerian cultural customs, for a project I am doing. What is a typical way of greeting in Algeria? (handshake, kiss, etc) What is the ""personal space"" for a discuccion (face to face, lots of space etc.) How is merchandise usually sold: across a counter, after drinking tea, bargaining etc. Thanks for any help! -KAri "

" Hi, I am an Algerian, here are some hints: Greetings: handshaking Discussion: face to face is better than over the phone if you go to shop, you can ask to see, to check, ask all kind of questions about the marchandise, bargain, etc... Do not swear in front of people (especially Wemen) that can get you in serious trouble if it happens to be their in Ramadhan (the holy fasting month) never take food or drink in public Jokes, smiles, humor: these are very appreciated attitudes in the algerian society The customs are very severe, do not forget to declare everything (IN and OUT) Hope this is helpful, if you have any specefic question, please feel free to contact me (kmeslem@yahoo.com) "
