If there was one thing that you wish you had known about living in Algeria before you arrived and started to settle in, what would it be?

You need to go there at least once and get involved with the local people to get a clear picture on how nice, compationate, and friendly the Algerians are and of course learn a little bit of Arabic or French will be a bonus.

That you need to be able to drive here and have acess to a car. Also as much as your family will want to keep you inside, try and have some indipendance.

I agree with Helen's comment, to have access to a car and have your own independence is important. You cannot rely on public transport!

how you need to have fellow english speakers that you could meet with. i found, even though i love it here, i miss meeting other people from the same culture as me. having friends like this is important, i feel.
