With summer break fast approaching, moms and dads often begin to worry, "What will I do with the kids all summer?" How do kids in your part of Algeria spend the summer? What activities, camps, excursions would you recommend to other parents? Please post your suggestions and contact information for specific camps/activities. This information will be extremely helpful for other parents - especially those parents who are just moving to Algeria this summer.

Oh this sounds good! I used to conduct summer art activities for children aged 3-9 years old. I'll be relocating to Algiers/Setif early next year and looking forward to relive the good old days with children. Hope to receive good response from fellow parents.

I do acrylic and poster painting with children, as early as 3year olds. And basic craftworks like tapestry, mirror making..I am hoping to start classes like that, over weekend(heard weekend starts on Friday?) So its like a fun friday for kiddies to roll in and get messy. My concern is what kind of art materials are available there.. recycled art is fun, but sometimes fresh coat of paint of canvas is unbeatable!

Good luck with your idea but I am going to be honest and tell you that I think it will be hard to get it started. It is not something people are used to here. There are not many activities for children or adults either except for school. Also you are aware that when you say you will relocate to Algiers Setif area that those are two cities that are far apart, right? I wish you luck and think it is a very good idea but not realistic here, unfortunality.

My husband had briefly mentioned before that it is not a common scene of such activities. Thanks for the advice, greatly appreciate. I know about the distance of Setif and Algiers. My husband's house is in Setif but we might settle in Algiers because teaching opportunities seemed to be more on that side.. whereabouts do u live?

I think that your art ideas for children sound fantasic. True there isnt much in the way of childrens activities here... there is a big gap in the market. You will need to select your area carefully for example in algiers you would need to be located in hedra/dely brahim/ben aknoun area if you wanted to be near a large part of the population that have money. From the educated algerian women that I have spoken too with young kids most want more things to do. The mentality of some women would not be to spend money on childrens art but its not everyone! You have lots of nationalities in the areas mentioned above too! Good luck and keep me posted on when you are moving? You sould like a really interesting person :)
