Can someone please explain the Family Book to me? I have been told that in order to rent an apartment as a married couple that they must first have this Family Book. Can someone tell me how does the couple get this? Any information about this would be greatly appreciated.

The family book is handed at the city hall during the marriage and contains the following elements:

An extract of the marriage certificate of the spouses,

Information on the right(law) of the family: marriage, filiation, adoption, parental rights...

Not sure if you really need it to rent an apartment!
