Hi, could anyone advise me on moving to algeria and am I aloud to ship my personal effects their. I am from the uk and my husband is algerian but the shippment cannot be sent in his name.

Hi Jane...
Usually your husband can put everything in his name unless he has already done it before,it's called Demenagement...when we came to live here my husband bought a small lorry and took all our belongings...if he cannot put in his name,ask a relative to help...can I ask whereabouts will you be going? Hi susan,
we are having problems due to the fact we are not married the british way. We are trying to send through someone else here but waiting a response.
we are moving to Algers and staying with my husbands partner until our house gets finished being built in jijel.
How long have you lived their? I am so nervous as I have never been before. Jane x

Dear madam,
Usually is straight forward if your husband is registred at the Algerian Consulate in London then he is allowed to make a removal of up to 17000 Pound of goods, they will give you a list of goods you allowed to carry.
Otherwise there is a shipping company which ships to Algeria very often they are based in whitechapel storage area
My wife and I moved from London last year with a 4*4 full of stuff and it was great and smooth

Hi Susan
hope you are well. Its been a while since last on here.
since last time we spoke, my partner and I got married english way and thought it would be plain sailing to register our marriage at the embassy, he registers with algerian consulate etc etc so we can ship our things to algeria but nothing is going right. They saying we need too do spouse visa and because my name different from birth cert they not except to register marriage.
is there anybody who would know about these things? Getting so stressed as was hoping new year, new start and all that. X

Hi,
He cannot register with the Algerian consulate in UK as he is not legal. That's why I wondered if it can go in my name the shipment, as our marriage is registered with Algerian Embassy and we have family book.

The algerian consulate in london is rubbish, my husband was illegal here but was still able to register with the consulate! My name when we registered was also different to my birth certificate however they justused my maiden name! It is insulting and it is hard work to deal with them but once sorted it gets easier just dont let your husband deal with them!!! Hot head and stuborn against another hot head and stuborn doesnt bode well together...
