Visiting BA

I'm coming to BA in July to scope it out to see if it's a place I want to teach English to foreigners after I get my TESL certification.

Any way, I was hoping I could meet some expats when i get there to help ease me into the culture and have a dinner or two with me.

I also wanted to know if it's safe to hike/backpack from town to town in Argentina. I'm also interested in visiting Uruguay and Chile and so I was considering being more like a nomad walking from town to town and country to country as a way to get to know the people and culture more so than say hopping a train.

Thanks,
Jon

Hi there!

In answer to your question, yes it is safe to backpack through Argentina. I backpacked here 3 years ago and now live here!

Unfortunately I am 780kms from Buenos Aires but if you are going to Chile and mendoza why not pass through the Calamuchita Valley? We own a guesthouse here and it is enroute to Mendoza!

Good luck with your teaching project!

it's not safe to hitchhike in buenos aires. I wouldn't recommend it, you can hit a good guy or a bad guy. Just like anywhere else,

Probably in the provinces is alright but I wouldn't advice in the buenos aires metropolitan area at least (which involves BA CITY and a radius of 50km all around it)

If you need help getting around in buenos aires or have any questions feel free to ask me :)
