electric appliances

I am moving from Mexico to Buenos Aires March 1 (2004), and the transporting of my personal effects is driving me crazy. Because I am legally limited, as a tourist, to what I can take on the plane, I'd like to know if it's worth it to take my appliances--such as telephone answering machine, CD burner, electric blanket, electric toothbrush--etc. and buy converters and adapters, or whether these items are inexpensive and easy to find in Argentina.

I would appreciate any help you can give me. This transportation problem (I also have a cat, a painting, and a computer) is making me panic!

Many thanks!

Tanguera,

Received your message regarding transportation of personal effects to Buenos Aires. Would recommend that you bring all of these items with you and buy the corresponding transformersand adapters locally in order to fit your requirements. Remember that we have 220 volts and 50 hz cycle (don't know what you use in Mexico, guess 110?), so consider this factor very seriously.

Regarding this listing you mentioned, most of these products may be found with exception of electric blankets (don't exist here at all!).

In so far as including everything on a plane obviously it is going to be very complicated, if you are being transfered by a Company guess the best bet would be to consider shipping most of your goods, is that possible?. Now, if you are coming here for a short period and as a tourist well that is a total different setup.

Please let me know more details in order to help you. My e - mail is arice@arnet.com.ar

Regards,
Andrew
