Can anyone recommend a good health insurance program to use while living out of the USA. I am an Argentine resident my husband is Argentine, but we are thinking of having a child in SA. I would like to know if any of you expats out there have gone through this experience and if yes, what type of insurance if any did you have?

Hi,

Regarding your brief message concerning local health insurance program (in Buenos Aires), I think there are ample possibilities of excellent coverage and most of all at very convenient prices (compared with USA medical coverage). We have several options to consider depending on your requirements and needs. To give you a vague idea of values for a married couple the cost should be around $ 800 and $1000 (that is argentine pesos), that would be the equivalent of u$s 300/400. My suggestion would be to determine precisely your needs and according to that check out some " obras sociales o prepagas", that would better fit all of the necessities. Would like to know or have more information about you and your plans, in order to help you out appropiately.

Feel free to contact me to the following mail: arice@arnet.com.ar

Good luck,

Andrew

We just finished getting an insurance plan that has no copago (copayment) and is no deductibles. The cost for us as a married couple was 516 pesos or less than 200 us dollars. We will need to wait two months only before I can get pregnant and once the baby is born the monthly insurance will increase to just about 200 dollars. We can also make our payments online with a credit card if we´re not in the country. If you are interested in more info about who we used, and the great woman who helped us at the agency, feel free to email me at zurrolaur@yahoo.fr . also check out my blog for helpful information and links that I´ve posted http://movingtoargentina.typepad.com/ .

We´ll be back in the States until sometime in April when we´ll be relocating to BA.

suerte
