I was told that the current government may eject foreign landowners from Argentina. Any truth to this? Please let me know any political risks inolved in buying land in Argentina. I am a Canadian citizen.

Where did you hear of this "ejection of foreign landholders"???
I get emails from Argentine friends everyday and haven't heard anything. There is a January symposium on investing in Argentina. I'm sure they would have canceled it. The gov't has made several announcements of opening the country to foreign investments.
I read the news from Argentina and Mercotur everyday and haven't seen anything there either. It sounds like "scare tactics" to discourage people from investing out of north America to me.
I was in Argentina in November and the immigracion people were very encouraging. Not a hint of "ejection".

i would have a hard time believing this ... a lot of people foreigners are buying property in argentina and it is increasing real estate prices in choice neighborhoods

considering the country´s economic situation, it would be strange to imagine that they would want to discourage this kind of investment

my husband is from argentina, and i am a u.s. citizen. we have been working for 5 years to save money and have bought some land and are planning to relocate to our new house as soon as it is finished. i wanted to comment on your topic, as i have extensively researched the subject, and to assure you that you should have no problem, as the argentine government favors giving residency to land owners and investors. if anything, they will welcome you with open arms, as the more money put into their country the better!!!
