I'm planning to study in buenos aires for about 3-4mos from about May/June-August/Sept. I've read that a tourist visa could be all I need which is good for 90 days. If I were to stay longer I could just reapply for another 90 days. What experience does anyone have with this? Is it better or safer to just go ahead & get a student visa? What kind of time, cost, & preparation am I looking at with attempting to get a student visa? I'd appreciate any info or experience people can offer.

Hi Alexandra, Yes you can go to migraciones the first time to renew your visa and then next time go to Uruguay for the day; or vice versa.
There have been many many threads about this in the buenos aires newcomers group in yahoo groups.
Email me at zurrolaur@yahoo.fr if you have any questions. Laura http://movingtoargentina.typepad.com

Visa is for 3 months, you can renew going to Uruguay (Colonia), or Chile (Santiago).
Visa for students can delay a lot of time.
