Hi there, I've been living in Buenos Aires, Argentina for more than a year, and I have a few recommendations I'd like to share: 1) Always keep coins handy. The buses only accept coins, and, oddly enough, there is a shortage of coins here. 2) Be extra careful when you are crossing the streets as there are hardly any Stop signs, and drivers drive very fast. 3) Always hold onto your valuables tight! Buenos Aires is safe, but you still need to keep your wits about you. 4) Argentina's Castellano Spanish is unique in the Spanish-speaking world for its grammar, accent, and vocabulary. 5) Argentina has many public hospitals and (relatively inexpensive) private hospitals/clinics that you can take advantage of if you do not have health insurance.
These are just a few tips. I also recommend taking a look at www.livinginargentina.com for a much fuller picture on life, business, travel and beyond in Argentina.
Saludos, Caroline
