Moving to Argentina Possibly

Hi I am considering moving to Argentina and looking for just the right city. Of course Buenos Aires is at the top of the list. I am a writer, single, have a tiny dog, and looking for an affordable but nice place in and around the art's district. Any ideas? Thanks.

Hi!

We have friends who own a hotel familiar in San Telmo. They have rooms available at affordable prices. If you are interested inbox me and I will get you more information and prices.

Good luck with your plans :)

Hello, If you are looking to settle in Buenos Aires, the city's got lots of options, the farthest away you go from BA City the cheaper the rent will be.

If you are looking for a nice and peaceful place to live in for cheap, I'd say head off to the north of BA, in the country. you can easily drive to the city.

Places such as Capilla, or San Antonio de Areco are fancy little towns and oddly cheaper than the capital federal area, the only downturn is that these towns are about 1 hour drive away but the motorways are alright.

I am an artist too and I much rather live out in the country and drive to the city.

Many people, specially newcomers prefer the area of San Telmo, in BA City.
It is indeed a very bohemian looking city full of things to do and the home of several artists.

If you are coming to settle temporarily and bringing in some savings I'd advice you to rent a house straight or a small apartment rather than going to a hotel or any residence of the sort, your personal goods may be stolen or lost depending on the place. Also you will likely need to eat daily and have your own privacy where renting a house for cheap will give you it all and more.

That's my personal opinion though.

Otherwise, in BA City, the area around Palermo is nice, and Recoleta is also excellent, but also expensive.

If you need any advice don't hesitate to ask I'd be pleased to help you out.

Rent can be a lot cheaper in areas outside of the Capital Federal. We rented a house in Quilmes which is +- 45 minutes by bus. You have to weigh up the stress of using public transport, over crowded busses and the cost of an apartment in the city centre.

There are also other complications when you rent a house. As a foreigner you might be requested to pay up to 6 months in advance. Sometimes they need securities. If you cannot speak the language you might get ripped off.

If you can rent an apartment with a friend this will be great. La Recoleta is beautiful but very expensive. I won't rent there unless I get it for a very good price.
