The inflation rates is probably the highest among all Latin American countries I've researched on so far. What's your expereince living in Argentina regarding this?

you'll see the mortgage rate is a whopping 20%! Is this close to reality? What do you think about this? Thank you.

Surviving Inflation and Devaluation, ....... Yes, we are second to Venezuela in inflation, which means prices rise in Pesos, but, as it many time happens with Inflation in our economics at the same time we are going through devaluation in front of the US $, which means, that with less US $s you are able to life with, .... sometimes we are unlucky and we have inflation with revaluation, and that means more US $s to life with, at times, it can be more expensive than first World Economies, .......

Mortgages are only few and scarce usually used as a Political tool to capture or pay favours, ....... they payment * ( back ) can be very assessable, but, you are most likely want be able to get one, ........ best way round this is a Back to Back Mortgage with some Property back home that you can Rent to pay back the loan, ....... cash in with the "Cash" only Buy Market here in Argentina, ..... always think " mobility" one time in Argentina, then you might need to move on to another country and come back when the grass is greener, .. unless you are able to work and surf the economic waves going up and down, ........ Hope I have been of help! Cheers, Bob Frassinetti

The inflation rate in your link is a joke. It is the socalled INDEC rate which is a "political" rate at less than half the real inflation.

The inflation 2010 was app 18%, 2011 24%, 2012 26%, 2013 expected to be close to 30%.

As for mortgages, forget it unless you are an Argentine citizens with an Argentine family to guarantors.

When we built our vineyards in San Rafael in 2008/2009 our vineyard workers, we pay them legally, were earning AR 1,400 pesos a month. Now they earn 4,200 AR pesos a month plus 23% additional in benefits. Our materials, gas for the tractor and electricity have tripled in price.

And in five years of living in the Mendoza region I have NEVER heard of anyone getting a mortgage unless it was Seller Carry Back.

this is what argentina is, for a few years an island of progress, and after that, the peronist government will ruin the economy. sad you invested there, Chile is completely different.
