Hi everyone, My husband and I will be moving to Argentina soon. I am a dual citizen (Argentine/US) and my husband was born in the United States. We plan to go for a couple of months first as we have been away for almost 10 years. Given that my husband's pension will be directly deposited in a US bank, do you have any advice as to how to transfer his pension to Argentina to get the most for our buck? Would having a specific bank in the US make any difference? Thanks.

Cuidado y suerte.

Hi, may I refer you to the topics as you may see we have been having a lively discussion on how to the best bang for the buck as you know any dollars that go in to the AR bank come out only in AR money at about 8.5 to 1 and the blue market for dollars is ruffly 13.5 to 1. Any way.

To get your best bang for the US dollar in Argentina, you will have to have cash. How you get pensions or savings to Argentina in cash is a gamble. Have send it in a box marked Bills to Pay, or something that will not arrouse interest, or have someone bring it with them, declaring everything over $10,000..........

Do not under any circumstances send money in ordinary, uninsured mail. It is just as safe to burn it, as it is sure to be stolen.
(FYI: I have more than 12 years of experience with Argentina)
