I have a friend who wants to book a round trip Aerolíneas Argentinas flight from Miami to BA.

Has anyone recently traveled on Aerolíneas Argentinas and wishes to make comments, good or bad, about Aerolíneas Argentinas.

Thanks

I prefer American Airlines...they are almost always significantly less in cost, and tend to be on time, while Aerolineas Argentina is not as timely. However Aero. Arg.. does offer time payment plans for Argentine citizens. LAN offers the best service and food in my opinion and is normally priced between American and Aerolineas. It's always best to shop around, as prices and the availability of specials change daily, if not hourly.. On board service and seat comfort and amenities is not as good on Aerolineas, in most cases, but there are exceptions, depending on how much $$ they are trying to save. Keep in mind that Aerolineas is a government funded operation, losing about $1,000,000 per month (or more) while other carriers are capitalistic enterprises.

I have flown with Aerolineas Argentinas in March and have missed two connection flights because they didn't fly on time. The customer service of the ground staff was terrible. I will rather fly with LAN. I must add that this was not the first incident with Aerolineas. Very often they are on strike or simply cancel flights.

On the other hand, whilst I've only flown with them less than a dozen times, I've never had a problem. Take last weekend, for example: I had an Aerolineas flight from AEP to GRU booked through KLM and the status on the KLM page varied from day to day between changed and confirmed but mostly it said cancelled. KLM were hopeless at telling me what was going on. I spoke to one of the Aerolineas information clerks at EZE who phoned through to a colleague at AEP and confirmed everything was good. And it was good:we took of and landed on time in a relatively new plane. It was a good flight.

Some people still call the airline Air Campora but whilst there are still activists employed there, the airline is shrugging off its political connections and, in the interests of trying to make a profit or at least make less of a loss, employing people without regard for their political convictions simply because they can do a good job.

Declaration of interest: I have friends who work for Aerolineas but I don't get treated any differently from the next guy.
