I know how hard it is going to a new place, so my email address is broc_and_fiona@yahoo.com if you would like to contact me.

Dear catrina,
My name is Tracy and my husband and 3 children aged 4, 3 and 1 are just about to strart the process of emigrating also to brisbane. Like yourself we live in glasgow, Uddingston and would love to get some advice and chat to you about the move. I was wondering if you chose to use an agency to help with your visa? My husband and I would love to speak to people who are going to brisbane as I get the impression they think we're abandoning them. My email address is campbells75@hotmail.com
I hope to hear from you soon

Hi! We migrated last October from London via the USA. My wife is an Aussie and I'm a US citizen. The visa was the easy part for me.
It took a 40' container to move our household items. Quarantine hit us for about $700 to destroy a couple of Christmas wreaths and table top artificial trees that had wooden bases. We missed them when we did our packout. It was about three weeks after the ship landed before we could get our goods delivered.
I work in IT and it was hard finding a job here. Part of that was due to bad timing on our part. Most of the hiring stops in Nov-Dec due to the holidays. We came over with very little (comparatively) cash. We opened an account with Commonwealth Bank branch in London and transferred our Sterling account balance straight into the Commonwealth account and they converted it over. It was waiting on us when we arrived in town. Just had to visit the central branch and do the paperwork.
That's all I have time for right now. Let me know if you need any more information.
Take care,
Jerry
