Possibly moving to Adelaide... tax implications?

Greetings all - My name is Cynthia, and my husband and I are considering moving to Adelaide for a year contract. I would go as either an independent contractor or as an employee of a US subsidiary, either way sponsored by a company in Adelaide. I'm struggling the most with the tax ramifications, mainly to figure out whether or not it's financially viable. The would be paying my salary and expenses. What is the tax percent is Aus? I know many companies will do tax equalization, but I don't think this situation would provide that, meaning I'd have to pay the tax up front and recoup on my US returns.

Any help/suggestions/experience would be most appreciated!
