I am relocating to Brisbane from the UK with my boyfriend at the end of May on a permanent residency visa. I am 28, he is 36 and we would love to hear from people who are in the same boat as us, have already arrived, or are even just thinking about it... Would be great to chat.

Hi Kirsty I'm from the UK and just joined my partner Dave who is Australian. We lived in Brisbane and it's a great place to live. For the time being however we are living in Gladstone in Central Queensland because of work. I'd like to end up back in Brisbane for sure though. I lived in Oz for a year in 1998 and now I'm back for good. It's a fantastic place to live but obviously takes some adjustment so if you want to have a chat it would be great to hear from you, teggerfitz@hotmail.com. Good luck and have fun. Christine

Hi We are hopefully moving to the Brisbane area as soon as we hopefully get our visa. We are in our mid 30s with 2 kids aged 8 & 10 and my hubby is a Ceramic Tiler. Would like to hear from anyone in a similar situation. This visa lark is a nightmare and takes to long. We want to go now. Fed up of England and its grotty weather.

Hi Graham, Clare,
Thanks for your reply. In answer to your question - we used a company called 'visa go' who are based in Edinburgh for our application. It was on a no visa, no fee basis, and made the whole process a lot easier. We are leaving on wednesday 28th May,and will be living in the Eatern suburbs when we arrive as we have family there. To be honest, as we have visited the area several times, and like it, will probably end up buying our own place there as well. We met quite a few Brits living in the area on previous visits - we poms seem to be everywhere! Do you have an email address? If you like, I can mail you when I arrive, keep you upated with anything that may be of interest, and you can use me as somebody the next step ahead from you if you have any questions etc etc... Feel free to mail me at - littlekrust@hotmail.com Hope to hear from you soon, Kirsty.

reply to 'goose' - not sure what your names were!!
How is your visa application going? Are you applying for permanent or temporary? Do you know what area of Brisbane you are looking to live in? I agree, the visa takes tooo long - me and my boyfriend applied for a permanent one for which we were quoted about 20 months, so decided to apply for, and go on a temporary 4 year one, which only took 6 weeks, in the hope that the perm one was accepted (which it was). Doing this means that if you are perpared to take the risk that you perm one will be okay, you can go much much sooner..... does all that make sense? reading it back seems rather jumbled! Anyway, whatever you do, it will be well worth the wait. Let me know how you get on, and if you have any questions. My email is littlekrust@hotmail.com Regards, Kirsty.
