Hi there, My partner has been offered a job in Sydney and i am both excited and scared about things. I have 2 children aged 8 and 6 and here in the UK they go to Private School. I have no idea what areas are nice to live in, what school would be best for the kids, etc etc there seems so much to do but such little time - i dont even know where to start! If anyone could suggest best places to live - we dont want to live right in CBD - about an hours commute would be as far as we would move. We would like to be near to a beach if possible, a nice family area, some good schools, activities for kids etc - seems like a lot to ask when you dont know a place at all. Im getting myself in a panic over a million things so any help/advice would be much appreciated. Sarah

Hi sarah Have been in your position so know what you are going through.I suggest you look at these real estate websites and think about how much rent you are willing to pay The northern Beaches area of Sydney is popular but expensive near the sea you can however live a few kms in land in such area as Frenchs Forest Forestville Beacon Hill Allambie Heights Davidson Belrose Areas like this have the beautiful"Bush" and are close to sea Commute about an hour Where is job? I dont think you need to think about private schools but check out my website and have a look at my pictures I am also listed in the expat resource guide under relocation Keep in touch Lesley www.northernbeachesknow-how.com.au

Good Day Sarah;
In my opinion anywhere in Sydney is good place to stay as long as you have the means to get to everywhere....
Anyway to me Randwick seems a nice place

Don't get in a panic it's a fantastic place. You want to live by the water in NSW, don't live inland as it gets too hot. Everyone will tell you to live in Manly but it's way too touristy. Head up the Northern Beaches (Dee Why, Curl Curl and further up) and it's beautiful. Can't help with schools but I have spent quite a lot of time in Australia in the last 10 years and those are definitley the nicest places to live. Enjoy!
