Working in Austria - Work Permits & Residence Permits

I am contemplating staying in Austria for more than 6 months, but less than 5 years.

To my understanding, I can apply for the residence permit once I am in Austria? “In short, Canadian citizens file their application directly with the Austrian authorities after their entry into Austria.”

Are there any requirements before I leave Canada in this instance? Would I have my prospective employer apply for my work permit once I arrive in Austria?

I am wondering if an option would be to travel to Austria under the 3 month visitor allowance... find a job, have the employer apply for a work permit... THEN apply for a residence permit...?!

Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

This are my informations. Normally when you have a new job they aplly for you for the Visa and then it is easier to get one. Your informations are correct, you can got first as holiday and look for a job, but do not work. And when you have a job you can apply for the nexy Visa.
Here this maybe helps you, too
