Hi, my husband and I and 3 kids AND mother are planning to move to Austria (or Germany or Switzerland) in the coming year. I am a German citizen still, but have lived as a permanent resident in the US for 33 years. We want to raise our family in Europe and are tired of the US. My husband is a neutralized US citizen. We are actively searching for an IT job (Oracle DBA) for my husband that does not require German. It is my understanding that he can apply for a resident and work permit after we arrive. We are excited at this new adventure, but anxious about all the paperwork and detail and red tape we will have to negotiate to make this happen. Does anyone know if there is an advantage to my being a German citizen when it comes to my husband working in Europe? Any help, advice, job prospects, or friendship is appreciated! Adriana

I am an American Expat living in Germany. Cant help with the job but many job search sites (Stepstone and Monster, etc) do have job listings in English. Frankfurt, Cologne and perhaps Munich should have enough American companies that would employ english speakers.
The following will give you info on the immigration process for your husband. Good luck. http://www.bamf.de/DE/Willkommen/Aufenthalt/WichtigeInformationen/wichtigeinformationen-node.html

Hello from Vienna - me and my team is meanwhile specialized on the help for expatriates - and, we are in charge for to help all expatriates at one of the major banks here in Austria.
Our conditions are rather simple - we are offering low budget relocation service for expats - you let us know when you are in Vienna, we have access to all colleagues in the real estate business - so we can offer you a wide range - you just pay the usual brokerage and 600,-- EURO for all basic helps around living (contract check and explication, registering, bank account, gas and electricity provider) of course we consult all other facts around living - simply for car importation, school and kindergarden, we have to charge you according agreement - glad to hear from you - if its will be Vienna - kind regards Irene Schrack www.schrack-immobilien.at
ps dont missunderstood - we are real estate trustees - but we changed to expat service :-)
