That comparison engine is not accurate at all. I live on GBI and have another condo in NYC, so I used the two that I know. Not even close. It was partly right on things for NYC, like grocery prices and utilities. But it wasn't right on much else. For Freeport, completely wrong. Groceries weren't even close to the actual costs. I can't speak for prices in Nassau, but it seems that isn't a good tool. Just letting you know.

Hm, I did wonder! It seemed too good to be true with some UK comparisons

TV with sports channel - check cablebahamas.com - also has their internet packages - we pay $95/mo for HD TV, no sports but HBO, includes midrange internet. Groceries for two - depends on the way you eat. We eat really well, so our average weekly food costs are $200 - $300. However, Milk is $6.50/gallon, Rib Eye and New York Striploins are $14.99/lb, corn on the cob can run you $0.89 to $1.69 PER COB, a gallon of Breyer's ice cream is almost $11, fresh fruits and veggies are 1 to 3 times what they are in North America. Chicken is only slightly more than in North America, and lamb is about the same. So, it really depends on how you eat. Utility bills - depends again on how you use your utilities and how big your place is. If you are careful, in the winter months, with a 3 story, 2200 sq ft place, our electricity is between $200 and $400. In the summer, we are really careful, and it is between $400 and $600. A lot of people don't realize just how important it is to keep your A/C operating efficiently, and it can make a huge difference in your bills. We used to have summer bills that were as high as $900 once in a while - it was the inefficent AC.
Hope this helps!

Thank you Breija for your reply which was very helpful. We currently live in London and hope to relocate to Nassau in the New Year. We were suprised at the cost of utilitiy bills as ours in the winter are aroud $150 and that is using our central heating to heat a 3 bedroom house.
Thanks again as this information will help us to budget re where we want to look for a property to rent etc.

Oh, and keep in mind that some people are much more heat tolerant, and find that they are quite happy leaving windows open through the cooler and less stifling hot days. So, the electricity bills could be much lower still. We have had a dust bowl behind us for the last 4 years, so even in the winter time, we don't often open the windows. If you did, the electricity in the winter months may be much less.
In the summer, I can't handle the heat, but if you are heat tolerant, you may find that you do not need as much AC.
Cheers!

It is also important that you buy your chicken and meats from a good source. Solomons Fresh Market and Bahamas Food Services are the safest. BFS sells bulk so it is a good idea to share the meat orders with another person.
