Hi All - we are thinking of purchasing a condo on Cable Beach (likely in Bayroc) but would like to know if it is in the flight path or if airplane noise is an issue. Thanks!

I lived in Nassau for 8 months and my close friend was on Love Beach and that is the flight pattern of 95% of the planes that land in Nassau. They go every 10-15 min so it can be very loud, I never got use to it and I was there everyday. Bayroc is a bit further east so I am not sure of that location.

Bergie, thank you for your helpful and prompt reply! If anyone would like to weigh in on airplane noise at Bayroc or Cable Beach it would be much appreciated. Kind regards, Kittie

Not many flights going over Bayroc - most are further west and/or from the south west.

Breija, thank you for your kind reply! We are planning a trip in the fall to see Cable Beach and other areas, and were thinking of staying at the Melia, but pretty much all the reviews are horrible! Is it the case that Cable Beach is rather run-down (boarded-up defunct resorts, ill-kept beaches etc) perhaps due to the prolongued stop-work at Baha Mar? I very much appreciate this expat forum and how helpful members have been - encourages me to think Nassau is the island for us! All the best, Kittie

I live right across from the airport in Tropical Gardens and don't find it to be too bad, to be honest. And we are in the direct flight path :)
Maybe I have just grown to tune it out over the past year. I also don't think Melia is bad. Stayed there a few times prior to moving and the new restaurants have good food, BEAUTIFUL beach and the rooms we had were well maintained.

Hi Kittie,
I have not heard terrible reviews of the Melia. That said, things along Cable Beach are not as we had anticipated them to be at this time, but there are restaurants that are easily accessed from the Melia (and good restaurants within), and as someone else has said, people we have had stay there have quite enjoyed the beach. From the Melia, you can take the #10 or 12A bus to go toward downtown or to go west, where there are more amenities than immediately along Cable Beach.
Feel free to PM me if you have any other specific questions.

I live two blocks from Melia not far from Bayroc. Never seen a plane or heard anything. I've been living here for 6 months. Also previously lived a little to the west of Bayroc, again no flightpath at all.
About Melia, when I first came to the Bahamas, I was put up in the Melia for about two weeks and found the hotel to be very good. I wasnt impressed by their Asian Fusion restaurant nor their Mexican. But their buffet restaurant was quite good really. Their beach was excellent and rooms were fab. Anything else I can add please ask.
thanks

We live in Delaporte Point - a bit west of Bayroc. We have very little airplane noise. As most have noted, all major flights come in over the west by Love Beach. However, some of the BahamasAir flights (turbo props) do occasionally fly nearby when lining up to land. The noise is not a problem though and I think Bayroc would have less. Plus Bayroc would have thick concrete walls that would drown out most noise.
