Just looking to see if any of you have a favorite place to shop for specific items or know where the best prices are for produce, eggs, cereal, bread, and meat items.
Thanks :-)

What part of the island do you live? There is Fresh market in Old Fort and Harbour Bay. They have an extensive fresh meat and fresh seafood counter, carrying the only fresh fish (other than the dock) and lots of other fresh seafood. They also carry a lot of organic foods and gluten free brands.

Super Value is the other every day choice. You need to know your prices as some things are more expensive at Super Value, and some more at Fresh Market.

There is also Solomon's kitty corner to the Mall at Marathon, and Costrite at Town Center Mall at Bluehill Rd. And the highway. Costrite carries big box sizes.

Solomon's, Costrite, and Fresh market are all Solomon's so you will find the same brands at each. Super Value and Quality Supermarkets are the same.

If you have family with you, there are a lot of groups that get together to buy from Bahamas Food Services in large quantities on a weekly basis that they then split up amongst themselves.

Finally, ther is are a couple Saturday morning markets. Out west it is on Blake Rd at the New Providence Community Center. Out east there is one at Dungalik Studios on Village Rd.

I hope that helps!p

Oh, and Fresh Market has the best selection of fresh breads.

Awesome! Thank you so much. We havent secured housing yet but Paradise Island is where my husband will work. Although, I know it will be more expensive, that is likely where we'll rent.

I would be very interested in piggy backing on bulk ordering. I'll be doing meal prep and precooking food for my husband while my daughter and I commute back to the states.

Ah, if you are living on PI, then Fresh Market Harbour Bay will be a really good option for you. Of course, you may choose not to live on PI, just because your husband is working there. There are a lot fewer amenities on PI, and it may be better for you and your daughter if your husband commutes a bit. let me know via PM if you have any specific questions.

Cheers!

Just bring most stuff when you come from the US, as the $35 checked baggage fee is much cheaper than buying food here. Tourists dont get stopped by customs, just use the tourist line if you only come over for a week or two.
