I am in the thinking process of moving to Dhaka but before I decide I would be grateful if anyone can give me a rough idea of monthly expenses. I have listed items below and I would be grateful if you can give me a rough estimate of each item.

Food
Toiletries/Cleaning
Medical/Doctor
Dental
Fuel
Car Insurance
Tax
Driver
Telephone (mobile/broadband/landline
Water
Electricity/Gas
Property Tax
House Staff
House Maintenance
Cable/TV
Newspapers
Dry Cleaning

It all depends on your standards and situation. I'm going to assume you are going to work in Dhaka on an expat package. Here are some figures in taka. (78 taka = 1 US$)

Monthly Expenses
Rent: 50,000-70,000 for a 3 bedroom apartment in Gulshan/Baridhara/Banano; 1 lakh-1.5lakh for a decent sized house
Driver: 7,000-8,000 tk for someone able to speak (barely) english
Household staff: 5,00-7,000 per live in staff member (again, with some english skills)
